European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is a body of the EU based in Budapest which was established to promote innovation through pan-European partnerships between universities, research institutes and companies. EIT is an integral part of the Horizon Europe programme (pillar III – ‘Innovative Europe’) and it is divided into several so-called EIT Innovation Communities (EITs) focusing on different societal challenges.
The EIT Innovation Communities operate in Innovation Hubs that are spread across the EU. The individual communities formulate their own ambitions and programmes. In this way, the individual EITs provide dedicated funding opportunities for initiatives that are in line with their objectives.
