CCRI-PDAs Horizon Europe
The Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) will support the implementation of local and regional circular economy solutions. It is part of the new Circular Economy Action Plan and will help deliver on the European Green Deal and the EU bioeconomy strategy .
The CCRI is currently being set up by the European Commission. The rationale this is that although many circular projects have been executed, it remains difficult to deliver concrete systemic solutions. In addition, the circular solutions that have been developed still need to be demonstrated and replicated effectively in other places. Moreover, the initiative also aims for circular solutions to be sustainable, regenerative, inclusive, and just.
Calls for proposals for Project Development Assistance
Two calls for proposals for CCRI-Project Development Assistance are expected in the 2021-2022 Work Programme of Horizon Europe Cluster 6 (Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture & Environment). Through PDA, the European Commission aims to support public authorities (cities, regions, municipalities or groupings) and public bodies in developing bankable circular economy projects.
Call HORIZON-CL6-2021-CircBio-01-02 is expected to open in 2021 with an indicative budget of EUR 10 million. Projects applying for this call need to deliver innovative financing schemes for circular economy investments, sustainable circular economy projects, and replicable investment financing solutions. The focus lies on small and medium-sized circular economy investments of up to EUR 20 million.
This call will open again in 2022 (HORIZON-CL6-2022-CircBio-01-01).
After publication of the Work Programmes, more information on the CCRI PDA calls can be found here .
